Green Cottage, Chalford

Construction has started on a 2-storey extension and single storey extension to a historic Cotswold cottage in Chalford. The property looks over the Golden Valley, built into the hillside above the village. The new 2-storey extension will provide a modern kitchen space at ground floor and a master bedroom with ensuite and dressing room, with large glazed doors and Juliet balcony to capitalise on the stunning views across the valley. The glazed single storey ground floor extension will provide a summer room, filled with natural daylight. Large sliding glass doors open onto a raised terrace, connecting the house with the garden.

Beech Cottage, Bisley

Construction has started on the remodelling and extension to a secluded Cotswold cottage near Bisley. The design responds to its setting, with a large glazed frontage to bring daylight into the living space while providing stunning views across the valley. Large sliding glass doors open the living space to the garden, with a roof terrace at first floor and a feature glass roof. To the rear a first floor extension is built into the hillside with a copper finish which will naturally weather over time to sit comfortably in its setting.

The main form of the house is clad in charred Accoya cladding. The wood is pre-treated off site resulting in exceptional stability and durability - extending the lifecycle of the wood. Once treated the Accoya will be delivered to site and charred to provide a black finish. The charring process, which originates from traditional Japanese techniques, seals the wood to provide added waterproofing and durability, while also creating an eye-catching blackened surface texture.

Okle Clifford Barns, Newent

The conversion of two barns has completed near Newent. The open post structure to the barn (left of view) is complemented by the large sliding glass doors which open onto the courtyard. Carefully completed groundworks provides an additional storey within the barn, creating dramatic double height spaces filled with natural daylight. The larger barn (right of view) has a triple height central living space with large glazed doors to each side of the barn, connecting the barn with its garden to the front and rear.

Below is a concept image produced during the early stages of the design. We produce such images in-house to help visualise and develop the design with our clients.
