Haveling Cottage includes a feature natural zinc roof which projects over the folding sliding glass doors. The zinc and oak frame combine to provide a natural material palette which will continue to weather and develop its own character to complement the natural stone. The design sensitively relates to the original historic Cotswold cottage which is within the Chalford Conservation Area, Stroud. This included recycling natural stone found on site and introducing natural materials which react to their environment and will soften with time to create a timeless elegance.

A feature slot rooflight fills the kitchen/dining space with natural daylight, while the folding sliding glass doors open the space to the garden and the picturesque views. The extension is highly insulated throughout, coupled with underfloor heating this creates a comfortable living space throughout the year. The sustainable design of the extension also helps to contain heat loss of the original historic Cotswold cottage, reducing energy consumption and heating costs.
