Cotswold Copper House
Cotswold Copper House is a beautiful stone property in the south Cotswolds. The property was fully refurbished throughout and extended to create a spectacular home and garden with accompanying residential outbuildings. The copper extension sits in the crook of two wings of the house, providing an impressive double height living space filled with light, which opens directly out to the garden.
The spectacular historic house features traditional arts & crafts detailing and proportions. Floor levels were adjusted to increase head room at the ground floor. The property and outbuildings were renovated from dilapidated structures to create an impressive home with guest annex, fit for 21C living. Stone masons crafted a grand new entrance porch to replicate the historic detailing of the house and provide an impressive, sheltered arrival space.
Every wall, floor and roof was insulated internally, to create warm, energy efficient spaces which reduce the operational energy demands. Windows were replaced throughout, with double glazed units to match the historic detailing, whilst creating a comfortable contemporary living environment. Underfloor heating throughout the ground floor levels provides modern comfort in a historic property and further contributes to the thermal efficiencies.
The double height extension was built from aged copper with a panoramic lantern roof light, double glazed crittal windows and doors opening out to the rejuvenated landscape gardens. Windows at low level can be opened for ventilation through summer months and a patio creates the perfect spot for outdoor dining. The copper complements the Cotswold stone, which both age gracefully as natural materials which reflect the colours of the surrounding landscape.
A comprehensive landscape scheme connects the house to the renovated buildings throughout the site; once farm buildings, they now provide separate guest accommodation and ancillary spaces.
